Everybody poops.  But have you ever wondered why it feels so good to take a huge dump? In fact the name for this feeling is sometimes referred to as “poo-phoria”.

It all comes down to the vagus nerve which runs from your brainstem to the colon.  When stimulated it can cause sweating, a drop and in blood pressure and even chills.  This can make you feel light-headed and give you an overall  sense of relaxation.  Usually it takes a fairly large deuce to trigger these feelings which can feel extremely satisfying and pleasurable.

Poop is 75% water

Water makes up the majority of your solid waste.  The rest is combination of bacteria, mucus, and fiber.  Gross!  Because of this you will even poop if you stop eating.

If you have a healthy diet your turds should sink in the toilet.  Floaters indicate high fat content which could mean you aren’t absorbing enough nutrients from your food.  It could also be due to celiac disease or other digestive issues.

Reading on the toilet is a bad idea

If you spend alot of time n the toilet reading you could develop hemorrhoids which are swollen, itchy blood vessels around the anus.  I learned this the hard way.  If you sit on the toilet for long periods of time pushing out this can worsen hemorrhoids.

Smelling books gives some people the urge to poop

Known as the “Mariko aoki phenomenon” some pope need to go poop after they go in to a bookstore.  The smell of the paper and ink have a laxative effect that is associated with reading on the toilet.
