Fart Causes American Airlines Flight Evacuation?

The recent story that a fart caused an American Airline flight to be evacuated seems to be full of hot air.  The original story is below.

Here’s what the International Business Times originally reported on July 17, 2017:

An American Airlines flight was evacuated after a sick man broke wind so violently it caused nausea and headaches among his fellow passengers, according to a US airport official. The aeroplane had landed at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), North Carolina, on 16 July at around 4pm when the man “passed gas” in the words of the official.

The resulting smell was so noxious that fellow passengers became ill and were rushed off the flight, according the RDU employee, who spoke with CBS South Carolina. The plane was not identified though it is understood to have been scheduled to land at RDU rather than being diverted as a result of the potent gust.

However officials denied that the plane was evacuated. A Raleigh airport official also indicated that a “medical call came in for someone affected by an odor after the plane deplaned normally,” while an American Airlines official added: “We did take an aircraft out of service for a mechanical issue, an odor in the cabin… No ‘passed gas’ issue.”

Still pretty funny!  This news reporter could’nt even tell this story on the air without cracking up.
